Licensing

How does it work?

Our applications use the standard Google Play Store license system to manage the license for your application.  This process is automatic and no serial codes, data entry or key files are required.

Can I use the app without an internet connection?
The Play Store caches your license on the device, which grants two full weeks of fully offline use at a time.  Once the two week period is up the Play Store checks the current licence status and, provided the user has not requested a refund, grants another fourteen days of offline use and so on.  The whole process is automatic.

How many installs can I have?
There are no limits on the number of installs or devices you can install the app on to.  You simply need to sign in to your Google account on whatever device you like and you may install the app on it.

How many licenses do I need?
One license (application purchase) is required per user.  There are no limits on devices per user.

If I upgrade to a new phone will I need to re-purchase the app?
No.  You just need to add your purchasing (Google) account to your new phone (see this page for instructions) and you will be able to install from the Play Store as normal.

I have a tablet as well as a phone - Can I install it on both at the same time?
Absolutely.  You just need to add your purchasing (Google) account to both devices (see this page for instructions).

Does the purchased license cover all future version updates/upgrades?
Yes.  All of our product updates are free for the lifetime of the product.

Licensing and drm is irritating / I hate it / It's anti-consumer etc.
We hear you and honestly we'd prefer not to have any.  Unfortunately we've experimented with removing it altogether in the past and it led to our revenue dropping to the extent that it just wasn't feasible to continue development.  It was a shock to us just how bad casual piracy really is on the Android platform and I think many consumers underestimate the extent.  As a developer of niche apps, we simply do not generate the volume of sales required to absorb these losses, so we opted for a very basic implementation of the Play Store licensing model, which permits regular offline use.  If you are on the fence regarding licensing or drm, then we'd say why not give our app a try and see how it works for you - we've tried to make it as seamless and unobtrusive as possible, but if you don't find it's a good fit for your needs, then email us and we'll refund you!
